One of our goals is to find ourselves in life. In dealing with issues related to life, frivolity is unacceptable, so we need to maintain clarity of our position and understand that life or death depends on us. However, on the way to achieving this goal, it is difficult to manage only by personal efforts. The role of the spiritual teacher is very important.

The common desire to find good mentors and loyal friends stems from the deepest desire of our original soul to get closer to the Creator with the help of a person who stands closer to Him. By uniting with such a person, we too can draw closer to our Heavenly Parent. But how to understand which person is really worth following and whose words to listen to? Sometimes it is very difficult to distinguish truth from lies.

You see the grains and you see the tares. You see a real spiritual teacher and you see a false one – you need to be able to determine exactly who is who. A true teacher will not claim to be a true teacher. In order to encourage people to be humble, a true teacher must first cultivate humility himself.

The false teacher also guides people, but he does so for a different purpose. He comes to them to closely observe and criticize them. A true teacher would never do that. Wherever he guides people, he does it for their own good, so he is a true teacher. In addition, he does not abuse power.

If a person knows that in order to wrest his neighbor from the clutches of death, he only needs to take a step, but does not take it, then this is a bad person.

A true teacher is like a doctor who can heal diseases. If a person’s spiritual situation starts to deteriorate, then the spiritual teacher should be on the alert day and night and not hide, but work all night long, shedding tears with the person to try to cure him. This is how a spiritual teacher should be.
