Physical self

Writing and etymology in Korean
肉 (육) [yuk] - flesh, meat
身 (신) [shin] - body

A person is a being composed of two aspects: the spiritual self and the physical self.

The physical self consists of the same elements as any natural object; it exists within a limited time limit. In the physical self, the soul of the body is the internal aspect, while the physical body is the external aspect; it is composed of cells and tissues. It also has sensory organs and a nervous system.

The soul of the body controls the physiological functions of the body necessary for its existence, multiplication, protection, etc.

The receptivity of a person’s spiritual self develops only through interaction with his physical self. All the qualities of the spiritual self are developed during his physical life: the spiritual self can be corrupted by evil because of his sinful behavior on earth, while atonement for sin during his physical life leads to purification of the spiritual self.

We are now living on earth, in a physical body, but we are moving toward the world of eternity. All people in this world are born and after passing through the period of youth, a person enters the period of maturity, and then, gradually overcomes one milestone after another and comes to old age. So, he completes his life, goes out like the setting sun.

You must know how valuable the period when you possess a physical body is. It is the only time that unites the whole world. Perfection is unattainable if there is a Creator and the universe, but no human being with a physical body. You must know how great is the value of the human body. It is more precious than the entire universe.

Human life does not end with the death of the physical body. It continues in the spiritual world. The earthly world, where our physical body lives, is only a tiny part of the boundless world of eternity.
